Are the Ella train tickets, Yala safari and other entry tickets included in the package?

Accepted Answer

No. The package covers your hotels, meals as listed, private vehicle, driver, airport assistance and taxes. Entry tickets and activities are paid separately. This applies to the Ella train tickets, Yala National Park entry and jeep, Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage, Temple of the Tooth and dance show, tea factory, turtle hatchery, river cruise, Gangaramaya Temple and Lotus Tower. Water sports in Bentota are also extra, and the cost depends on the activity you choose. You pick and choose, so you only pay for what you actually want to do.

Why should I book the Ambewela to Ella train ticket one month early?

Accepted Answer

The Nuwara Eliya to Ella train ride is one of the most popular train journeys in the country, and seats can sell out, especially in the busy winter season. Booking at least a month ahead gives you the best chance of getting the class and the seats you want. Once your dates are confirmed, tell us as early as possible so the tickets can be arranged. Travel dates fixed late may mean fewer seat options.

Will we see leopards on the Yala safari?

Accepted Answer

Yala National Park is known for having one of the world's highest leopard densities, but wildlife sightings are never guaranteed. Besides leopards, you can also spot elephants, crocodiles, deer, peacocks and many birds. The safari starts early in the morning, when animals are most active, and your package day includes a packed breakfast. Dress in neutral colours, carry a hat and sunglasses, and expect a dusty, bumpy ride.

Which days are the longest and busiest?

Day 3 (train ride, Nine Arches Bridge and the drive to Yala) and Day 4 (early safari followed by about 240 km to Bentota with stops at Mirissa and Galle Fort) are the busiest. They are also the most memorable, so plan to travel light, keep a small day bag handy and get a good night's rest before them. Day 5 in Bentota is deliberately easy, so you get time to recover on the coast.
