Are the Sigiriya Rock, Minneriya safari and other entry tickets included in the package?

Accepted Answer

No. The package covers your hotels, meals as listed, private vehicle, driver, airport assistance and taxes. Entry tickets and activities are paid separately at each place. This applies to the Dambulla Cave Temple, Minneriya National Park and jeep, Sigiriya Rock Fortress, Temple of the Tooth, turtle hatchery, river cruise, Gangaramaya Temple and Lotus Tower. Water sports in Bentota are also extra, and the cost depends on the activity you choose. You pick and choose, so you only pay for what you actually want to do.

How difficult is the Sigiriya Rock climb? Is it suitable for kids and senior citizens?

Accepted Answer

The climb is done on steps and walkways, and it takes a little over an hour at an easy pace. It is not a technical climb, but there are many steps, and it can feel tiring in the heat. Most families and active seniors manage it with slow pace and rest stops. Go early in the morning if you can, carry water and wear comfortable shoes. If someone in your group has knee or breathing problems, the lower gardens and the base area are still worth a visit.

Will we definitely see elephants on the Minneriya safari?

Accepted Answer

Wildlife is never guaranteed, so sightings depend on the season and the day. Minneriya is one of Sri Lanka's best-known places to watch wild elephants, and the safari is held in the afternoon when animals are most active. A good, experienced jeep driver improves your chances. Bring a hat, sunglasses and a light layer for dusty tracks, and keep your expectations open to birds, deer and other wildlife as well.

Day 1 has a long drive and a safari. What if my flight lands late?

Accepted Answer

Day 1 covers about 240 km from the airport to Sigiriya, with stops at the Dambulla Cave Temple and Minneriya National Park. This works best if you land in the morning or early afternoon. If your flight arrives later in the day, the safari or the cave temple may need to be skipped or moved, because the park and temple have fixed timings. Share your flight details when you enquire, and we will adjust the plan so that your first day is not rushed.

What kind of vehicle will we get, and does the price change with group size?

Accepted Answer

The vehicle is private for your group only. Two travellers usually go by car, groups of four by a KDH van with a flat roof, and groups of six to eight by a KDH van with a high roof. The cost per person goes down as the group gets bigger, so travelling with family or friends works out cheaper per head. Rooms are twin or double sharing, and availability is confirmed at the time of booking.

Will I find vegetarian and Indian-style food in Sri Lanka?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Sri Lankan food is rice-and-curry based, and many curries are made with lentils (dhal), jackfruit, pumpkin, beetroot or coconut, so vegetarians eat well. Hotels and restaurants on tourist routes also offer North Indian and South Indian dishes. Say "no meat, no fish, no egg" clearly when you order, because fish and dried fish are often used for flavouring. Jain travellers and anyone with strict food needs should tell the hotel and your tour operator before arrival.
